Musée National du Tissage et du Tapis Dar Si Said
The oldest museum in Marrakech, le Musée National du Tissage et du Tapis Dar Si Said has reopened to the public since the end of June.
An architectural and cultural jewel converted into the “Musée National du Tissage et du Tapis” new generation.
The new museum has been divided into two main areas in order to better value the richness of the art of weaving and carpeting.
The first reveals a section that shows "the richness and diversity of Moroccan weaving". Both rural and urban, the creations of the first axis present weavings (caftans, bags, babouches, handira, djellaba ...) of yesterday and today. Other assorted objects will complete these collections: jewelery, accessories apparat women, weapons, everyday objects ... belonging to the collections of the FNM.
Then you will discover a section exclusively dedicated to "the carpet as a real social and historical milestone." For this, urban and rural carpets coming from the four corners of the country are exposed under all the stages of their manufacture. You will discover several confections of carpets from all parts of the kingdom: the Anti-Atlas, the Middle Atlas, the High Atlas, the Haouz, the Citadin and finally the Oriental.
Open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Closed on Tuesdays.
Free access on Friday for nationals and foreign residents in Morocco, with presentation of their residence permit, on Wednesday for students, wth presentation of their student card.
